Honouring the Land and Its People
We acknowledge that this cottage is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Anishnabek peoples, specifically the Shawanaga First Nation. For generations, the Shawanaga people have lived in deep relationship with the waters, forests, and lands that surround Rock Island Lake. We recognize their ongoing stewardship and care for this territory, and we honour their past, present, and future contributions to the community and the environment.
